A moment that stood out for Chelsea Clinton, Vice Chair of the Clinton Foundation, while living in the White House, was the time she got to meet the great Nelson Mandela. Her recollection of that moment was fascinating to hear about.
Nelson Mandela and his wife became very good friends of the Clinton family when Chelsea was growing up, and Chelsea first met him when she was a young teenager.
“He was extraordinary because of both who he was and how he decided to lead his life with quiet but fierce humility,” Chelsea said. “He stood for what is right, moral and just. “
Chelsea was moved by Nelson Mandela’s wonderful sense of humor. “He had such an infectious laugh,” she recalled.
