As the international search operation for missing Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 stretches on, relatives of the 239 passengers and crew on board flight MH370 have received an outpouring of support and sympathy.

Shortly after the jet went missing on March 8, the New Straits Times reported that thousands of people had already posted messages of hope on the walls of Kuala Lumpur airport in Malaysia's capital. Many more would add their signatures in the following days.

On Monday, artists in the Philippines painted a mural of the missing plane in an elementary school near Manila with the message: "Hope Springs Eternal," Reuters reported.
