Isaiah Washington will return to "Grey's Anatomy" for one episode, seven years after his controversial exit, and he promises excellent things ahead for "Grey's" fans.
"I read the script last night ... The script is so amazing, it will blow you away," Washington said on "Access Hollywood Live." "Shonda Rhimes is a genius and I'm unbelievably humbled and over the moon with what I read last night."
Washington will reprise his role as Dr. Preston Burke, whose romantic relationship with Cristina Yang (Sandra Oh) was one of the show's most poignant, and the episode in which he appears is tied to Oh's exit from the show.
Washington was fired from "Grey's" in 2007 after making anti-gay remarks directed at co-star T.R. Knight. Rhimes made a statement when Washington's return was announced: "It's important to me that Cristina's journey unfolds exactly as it should. Burke is vital to that journey -- he gives her story that full-circle moment we need to properly say goodbye to our beloved Cristina Yang."Watch the whole interview below:
