Over the years, legendary actress Shirley MacLaine's outspoken spiritual beliefs have become just as well known as her iconic roles in classic films like "The Apartment" and "Terms of Endearment."
To kick off a new season of "Super Soul Sunday," Oprah sits down with the author and actress to discuss her longtime interest in spirituality. They first met in 1986, when Oprah interviewed MacLaine about her book, Out on a Limb, which greatly influenced Oprah's own spiritual journey. While there are many books written about spirituality, yoga and meditation today -- back in 1986, these weren't everyday topics heard on daytime talk shows.
"Do you consider yourself a spiritual trailblazer?" Oprah asks MacLaine in the above video.
"Oh, Oprah," Maclaine says. "That begs a huge question, which I've been thinking about rather seriously and intimately: We are all one. I am everybody who's seeking. And everybody who's seeking is me. So I make no differentiation."
Oprah rephrases her question. "Are you pleased with the role that you've played as a spiritual trailblazer for our culture?"
MacLaine answers modestly. "I'm pleased with the fact that I saw a trail and I walked down it, and didn't know what I was going to find."
Oprah's conversation with MacLaine on "Super Soul Sunday" airs Sunday, March 23 at 11 a.m. ET on OWN.
