An irate, intoxicated man vomited on his cell phone before holding a machete to his wife's neck and firing a shotgun over officers' heads, according to CBS12.com
Trevor Campbell, 31, was arrested on Saturday in Port St. Lucie, Fla. and charged with aggravated assault with a weapon, aggravated battery, and attempted murder of a law enforcement officer.
The trouble started when Campbell allegedly came home drunk, vomited on his phone and argued with his wife. Vile drunkenness allegedly escalated with him putting the blade to her neck, causing minor cuts, CBS12.com reports.
After that, Campbell grabbed a shotgun and threatened to kill himself.
When his wife tried to grab the gun away, the weapon discharged, firing a hole into the ceiling. She fled the scene with her two children as police units arrived, according to WPTV.com.
Officers positioned outside Campbell's apartment tried to get him to exit.
He fired a round from the second floor that traveled directly over the officers' heads, police said. Eventually a sergeant convinced him to surrender before anyone was injured, the Palm Beach Post reports.
Campbell is currently in the St. Lucie County Jail on $250,000 bond.
