Florida Cop, Posing As Girl, Allegedly Asked Boys For Pornographic Photos

Incognito Cop Allegedly Solicits Teen Boys On Facebook

A Florida police officer was arrested Tuesday night on allegations he posed as a teenaged girl on Facebook to get boys to send him sexy photographs.

Michael Gerard Stavris II, 30, a sergeant with the Bunnell Police Department, was charged with computer pornography, child exploitation and criminal use of personal identification information, ClickOrlando.com reports.

An investigation began in December after authorities received a complaint about a fake Facebook profile of a 16-year-old girl asking teen boys for nude pictures, Florida Department of Law Enforcement officials said. It eventually led police to suspect Stavris and agents said he admitted creating it.

Authorities also said they saw Facebook messages where Stavris, posing as a girl, asked for photos of a boy's genitals, according to WESH.com.

In another, Stavris allegedly offered to perform a sex act behind a school on a boy if he sent nude photos of himself.

Stavris was suspended without pay from the Bunnell Police Department, where he has worked for four years.

He previously worked at three other police agencies, according to Bunnell Police Chief Tom Foster, who told Jacksonville.com he did not know the names of the other agencies or why Stavris left them.

Stavris was booked into the Flagler County Detention Facility and later released on $125,000 bail, according to the Daytona Beach News-Journal.

Anyone with additional information about Stavris is asked to contact the Jacksonville Regional Operations Center at (904) 360-7111.
