Baseball Bat-Wielding Family Traps Underwear Thief In Bathroom: Cops

He got trapped under WHERE?

Florida man Manual Rodriguez, 21, was allegedly trying to steal underwear from a Golden Gate home Saturday night when the residents caught him red-handed and trapped him in the bathroom, ABC-7 reported.

Janet Gonzales told the station the whole family was asleep when they heard a loud racket. Her husband and two teenage sons, armed with baseball bats, went downstairs to investigate, Naples News reported, and found that someone had smashed through a sliding glass door.

Outside, there was a bike with "our laundry detergent, towels and laundry basket, " Gonzalez said.

Janet Gonzales says she located Rodriguez hiding in a bathroom, and she and other family members ran to push the door shut and ensure the man didn't leave.

Deputies who arrived at the scene said they found two pairs of stolen underwear on the suspect.

"He had my little girl's panties in his pockets and one on the sink," Janet Gonzalez said. "To me only a sick, perverted person would do that."

Rodriguez isn't the only one to get trapped in a room in recent weeks. Earlier this month, an entire family in Portland, Ore. was trapped in a bedroom by their 22-pound cat who went "over the edge."
