Tom Brady Posts Moving Message After Witnessing Deadly Boston Fire

New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady witnessed the massive fire that ripped through a four-story apartment building on Wednesday, which killed two Boston firefighters and injured 13 more. Brady later offered his condolences and thanks to the Boston Fire Department in a moving post on his Facebook page and during a radio interview.

On behalf of my entire family, I want to extend my deepest sympathies and condolences to the Boston Fire Department and the families of our brave and selfless firefighters who gave their lives for our protection and safety today, and to the entire firefighting community who protect us each and every day. All of you will be in our thoughts and prayers.

Brady lives in the area of downtown Boston where the fire occurred and was photographed watching firefighters battle the blaze.

Brady also called The Dennis & Callahan Show on WEEI on Thursday to discuss the incident and express his gratitude and sadness.

“I can’t express my gratitude and thanks enough to all the first responders and the people that were there fighting that fire all night last night. I had a firsthand view of all the action and was blown away by the bravery and the teamwork that they really displayed." Brady said. "I feel so badly for the families of the two fire fighters that were lost and obviously all the men that were associated with fighting that fire yesterday losing one of their close friends. We as athletes think we’re heroes, but when you witness seeing what I saw yesterday you realize who the real heroes are in this world. That’s the people who work hard to protect our lives and protect our safety and our freedoms in America, and certainly the firefighters and Boston Police and the State Troopers."
