David Zinczenko, author of Eat It To Beat It!, had some great insights to share with us about how to control portion sizes when eating out at restaurants.
David recommends dividing the portion size served to you at a restaurant in half. For example, if you go to a Mexican restaurant like Chipotle, David recommends cutting your burrito in half and taking the other half home for a later meal.
“Over the last years, portion sizes have nearly tripled,” David told us. “Thirty years ago, if you had a burger, it would be around 800 calories. Today, Ruby Tuesdays has a 1,770 calorie burger with bacon, a pretzel bun and the works,” he said.
“After eating one of those, it could lead to Regret Wednesday!”
