WASHINGTON (AP) — The House is putting off until next week a vote on a bill that would aid cash-strapped Ukraine and sanction Russia for its annexation of Crimea.

Senate and House congressional aides say lawmakers want more time to vote on the bill. They saw no obstacles to passage.

It had appeared that the House would vote Friday on the bill, sending it to the White House, where President Barack Obama is expected to sign it.

If signed into law, the bill would provide $1 billion in loan guarantees to Ukraine and further sanction Russia for its military incursion into the Ukrainian Peninsula.
