FBI Requests Help Tracking Down Child Predator Dubbed 'John Doe 28' (PHOTOS)

Help Catch A Child Predator

The FBI needs help identifying a man who they say was recorded sexually abusing a boy in footage found in another suspect's child pornography collection.

The bureau released images Wednesday of the alleged child molester, dubbed "John Doe 28."

Unlike most child pornographers who maintain their anonymity, the suspect reveals his face in the video. There are additional visible clues that might enable someone to identify him, the FBI said in a statement.

John Doe 28 appears to a be a white man in his 30s or 40s with wire-framed glasses and a receding hairline. The suspect is wearing a burgundy t-shirt with a shark logo on the left side.

“Subjects who show their faces in child pornography are not typical,” said Special Agent Karen Jurden in a statement. “It is our hope that someone will recognize this individual and come forward. We were able to recover a very clear image of John Doe 28.”

The video shows the wanted man and boy inside a residence in front of a blue sofa. There is a picture hanging on the wall that might be recognizable. The victim has been cropped out of the images released to the public.

Agents also hope the images will lead to the discovery of the child.

The man is believed to be an American based on the one word — "careful" — he utters in the 2-minute video that was first discovered in November 2012.

Agents have been unable to narrow down his location so they are circulating the photos across the country.

No charges have been filed yet.

Anyone with information is asked to submit a tip to the FBi's hotline at 1-800-CALL-FBI.
