Boston Marathon Survivors Tie The Knot In Dream Wedding

Posted: Updated:

Almost one year ago exactly, Rebekah Gregory and Pete DiMartino were in the hospital, just beginning the long and difficult recovery process after sustaining serious injuries in the Boston Marathon bombing.

The couple was in Boston to cheer on DiMartino's mom as she ran the marathon last April and were waiting at the finish line when the first bomb went off. Gregory -- who instinctively shielded her son during the explosion -- broke almost every bone in her foot, leg and ankle. She is now preparing to have her left leg amputated. DiMartino lost 90 percent of his right Achilles tendon and broke multiple bones in his ankle.

But on Friday, it was evident just how far this couple has come in the last year, as they tied the knot in Asheville, N.C. in front of 150 of their family and friends. The wedding was made possible by wedding planning site The Knot, who chose the couple as their 2014 Dream Wedding recipients. The wedding decisions were voted on by visitors of the site and The Knot took care of the bill.

Check out some highlights from their beautiful Big Day celebration in the video above.
