What's Worse: Eating Unwashed Fruit Or No Fruit At All?

You made a wise decision by tossing that apple in your bag this morning. Now, out and about during your busy day, you're well-prepared with a filling, health-promoting snack. Except you forgot to wash it.

Apples occupy the unenviable spot at the top of the Environmental Working Group's annual Dirty Dozen list of fruits and veggies most contaminated by pesticides.

Pesticides have been linked to a host of health concerns, but in the absence of a sink, what's your best move?

There's good news, according to the video above. Next time, try tossing an orange in your bag: A piece of fruit you can peel will keep those pesky pesticides on the outside. The EWG also releases an annual Clean 15 list of the fruits and veggies least contaminated by pesticides, a good place to start your shopping list.

But couldn't you just stop by the nearest vending machine instead, for some pesticide-free packaged snack? Find out if it's worse to skip your fruit entirely or eat an unwashed piece in the video above.
