An Evil Genius Combined '2048' And 'Flappy Bird,' So You Basically HAVE To Play It

We should have prepared for this. It was only a matter of time.

First there was "Flappy Bird," and cries of frustration and joy rose from the citizens of the world. Chaos ruled the land. But just as quickly as it rose, the bird fell from the sky in a blaze of glory. "Flappy" flapped no more, slaughtered by its own creator in its prime, for the good of the people.

For weeks we wandered through the App Store, without a purpose, without a game.

Then it appeared, like a beacon of hope: "2048." It was more playable than "Flappy." We remembered what it was like to play a game and not feel angry all the time. It was beautiful, and it made us feel smart (because numbers). But it was a copycat, a clone.

We needed them both, in their time. But this. We never wanted this...

Someone has made a mash-up of the two.

This addictive abomination made by Github user hcz has taken the open source code of Gabriele Cirulli's "2048" and combined it with that other viral mobile hit of the year to create the ultimate game. Gameplay is exactly what you think it would be: Get that little cube through the barriers to up your score.

The game is currently available in browser form, and there are also several versions on the Google Play Store.

What do you think?
