Mitt Romney Backs Mike Simpson In New U.S. Chamber of Commerce Ad

Romney Dives In To Competitive GOP Primary

Former Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney is appearing in a television ad for Rep. Mike Simpson (R-Idaho).

"The stakes are very high in this election because Washington spending is out of control," Romney says in the ad, which is scheduled to begin airing Wednesday, according to the Wall Street Journal.

Romney endorses Simpson and says he's "seen him in action" fighting against "Washington's wasteful spending" and Obamacare.

"We are going to win this battle," Romney says in the ad.

Romney was previously featured in a snail-mail campaign promoting Simpson, the Des Moines Register reported in March.

Simpson will face off against lawyer Bryan Smith in a Republican primary on May 20.
