Chicago's Shedd Aquarium on Tuesday revealed the name of their new rockhopper penguin chick.
The chick, born last summer, has been named Ruggles after a vote was held among members of the Shedd.
Rockhopper penguins like Ruggles have been identified as a "vulnerable" species by the International Union for the Conservation of Nature as warming ocean temperatures and disease have contributed to their population's rapid decline over the past 30 years, reports the Shedd, which participates in penguin rescue efforts. Ruggles is a part of the aquarium's penguin breeding program, started in 1991.
Rockhoppers are among the world's smallest penguins -- typically reaching just 20 inches tall -- and are recognized for their red eyes, orange-red beaks and their spiky crest of yellow and black feathers, the National Geographic notes.

Ruggles has been growing steadily since her June 2013 birth to parents Drake and Magdalena.
The rockhopper chick has been making lots of friends.
She's named after Ruggles Bay and Ruggles Island in the Falklands.
Shedd members chose this as her name over four other options provided by the Chicago aquarium: Gypsy, Lennox, Dawson and Marta.
Today, the 10-month-old Ruggles weighs about 4.9 pounds.
She's very comfortable in front of a camera, it would appear.
