Aerosmith's 'Dream On' Performed To Honor Boston Marathon Victims And Survivors (VIDEO)

Posted: Updated:

"This one's for you, Boston," said Aerosmith's Steven Tyler as he and the band's guitarist, Joe Perry, launched into one of their biggest hits.

The duo performed "Dream On" in tribute to the victims of last year's Boston Marathon bombing, and were joined by the Southern California Children's Chorus.

Sing with me, sing for the year

Sing for the laughter and sing for the tear

Sing with me, if it's just for today

Maybe tomorrow the good Lord will take you away

"It's almost like it was written for this unfortunate event," Tyler said in an ESPN interview.

"The lyrics, it's one of those rare songs that you can apply to a lot of different things," Perry said. "You can interpret it how you want, which is really the magic of music. You can take it, and you can apply it to something very personal and small or something, a big event, an event like what happened in Boston."

The video aired over the weekend during the ESPN special, "Dream On: Stories from Boston's Strongest" and again on Tuesday night to mark the first anniversary of the attack, which left three people dead and more than 260 injured.

Aerosmith was formed in Boston in 1970.
