"Scandal" star Columbus Short was handed divorce papers and a restraining order after he allegedly threatened to kill his wife, actress Tuere Tanee McCall.
TMZ reports McCall filed a restraining order against Short after an incident on April 7 during which he allegedly held a knife to her throat and threatened murder-suicide. Purportedly intoxicated, he poured wine on her before pinning her to a couch, questioning her about affairs while wielding a knife.
"He placed the knife close to my neck and threatened to kill me and then kill himself," read documents obtained by E! News. She ultimately got in her car and drove away, but one of her tires was slashed.
The restraining order required him to move out of the house they share in the Los Angeles neighborhood of Chatsworth, according to TMZ. Police were there Wednesday to ensure the process went smoothly.
Along with the restraining order, McCall filed for divorce in Los Angeles Superior Court citing "irreconcilable differences." She is seeking sole physical and legal custody of their 2-year-old daughter, Ayala, E! News reports.
McCall previously filed for divorce in September 2013, according to RadarOnline.com. But the couple, who married in 2005, apparently reconciled after that.
This is not the first time there has been a domestic violence incident between Short and McCall. He was previously arrested following an altercation in front of their daughter and his son back in February. He was charged with spousal battery and pleaded not guilty.
Last month, Short was arrested for his alleged involvement in a bar fight in Los Angeles that left one man hospitalized. In 2010, he was accused of breaking a man's jaw during a basketball pick-up game.
