A Bloods General Describes Gang Life In Exclusive Clip From Tribeca Film, 'Five Star'

Posted: Updated:

The media and entertainment have continually portrayed gangs with a stereotyped, limited perspective. Yet the only way to get to the core of this chaotic culture is to blur the lines between reality and fiction.

That's exactly what Keith Miller's "Five Star" -- a film about a real-life Bloods member and a young kid on the brink of joining the dangerous lifestyle -- aims to do. Premiering at the Tribeca Film Festival on Thursday, April 17, the film fuses documentary with fiction to tell a story about Primo, a five-star general of the Bloods gang -- in both the film and previously in real life -- who takes a young boy, John, under his wing.

In an exclusive clip from the film, Primo offers John a place in the gang and guarantees that he'll always be safe under Primo's protection. Unlike the heated rivalries we see on the news between different gangs, Primo explains that his position as a Five Star is above that, a position of honor and respect.

Check out the clip above and don't miss "Five Star," one of HuffPost Entertainment's must-see films at Tribeca this year.
