Boston Marathon Survivor Plans To Run Marathon Again

Why This Boston Marathon Survivor Will Be Running Again

Cassandra Arsenault isn't letting the terror of last year's Boston Marathon prevent her from running this year.

"You have this adrenaline rush throughout the whole race," the television journalist explained to HuffPost Live's Caroline Modarressy-Tehrani about her decision to return to the marathon. "The crowd is unbelievable. There's not really a spot throughout the whole race where someone isn't cheering, giving you water. People come outside their houses to give you oranges or anything you need to stay fueled up throughout the whole race. It's unlike any other race that I've ever run, and I think it's the same for a lot of people."

But Arsenault's memories of last year's marathon are bittersweet.

"The marathon runners -- we didn't know what to do," she recounted. "We weren't with our family, you couldn't call anyone because cell phone lines were jammed up. ... I was terrified at that point, a lot of the runners I was with felt the same."
