Elizabeth Warren Insists She Isn't Running For President In 2016

Posted: Updated:

Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) insisted she has no plans to run for president in an ABC News interview set to air Monday.

ABC's David Muir asked Warren about recent articles that suggest she could threaten former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's potential 2016 presidential bid.

“I don’t get who writes these headlines or what they’re about. I think there’s just kind of a pundit world out there," Warren said. "I'm not running for president."

"There's nothing that could change your mind?" Muir asked.

"David, like I said, I'm not running for president," she responded.

Then, Muir asked if the senator thought Clinton would make a good president.

“I think Hillary Clinton is terrific,” Warren said. “We gotta stay focused on these issues right now.”

In December, Warren promised to serve out the remainder of her six-year term in the Senate through 2018, throwing cold water on 2016 speculation.

Clinton has not confirmed her bid for the Democratic presidential nomination. Most recently, Clinton said she's "thinking about it."
