HuffPost Gay Voices Receives 'Groundbreaker Award' From Our Family Coalition

HuffPost Gay Voices had the honor of receiving an award from Our Family Coalition, an organization that advocates for the equality of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) families through education, support and advocacy.

The award presentation happened on April 10 in San Francisco, Calif., at Our Family Coalition's "Night Out," an annual event that celebrates the diversity of families. HuffPost Gay Voices Executive Editor Noah Michelson attended the event to accept the "Groundbreaker Award" on behalf of the website. Gay Voices was honored for its commitment to featuring stories about and by queer families.

Other individuals honored at the event included Principal Leroy Gaines of the Acorn-Woodland Elementary School in Oakland, Calif., who received the "Ally Award" and the first openly gay "American Idol" contestant, MK Noblilette, who received the "Luminary Award."
