'It's A Metaphor' Meme, Inspired By 'The Fault In Our Stars,' Has Officially Taken Over The Internet

    • There's no denying the excitement around the film adaptation of John Green's book, "The Fault In Our Stars." The first clip debuted at the MTV Movie Awards, revealing Hazel and Augustus's first interaction. In it, Ansel Elgort's character explains that even though he puts cigarettes in his mouth, he never gives them the power to kill him by lighting them, saying smugly, "It's a metaphor."

    From that one line, a meme was born on Tumblr, with people either putting objects in their mouth or captioning famous scenes.
