Curt Clawson is the Republican nominee in the special election to fill former Rep. Trey Radel's (R-Fla.) seat, following the congressman's January resignation after pleading guilty cocaine posession.

Clawson defeated three other Republicans in Tuesday's primary: Lizbeth Benacquisto, Michael Dreikorn and Paige Kreegel.

Clawson campaigned as an "outsider" and picked up endorsements from Republicans like Kentucky Senator Rand Paul. The Florida businessman also largely funded his own campaign.

He is set to compete against Democrat April Freeman in the June 24 general election.
