Man Caught On Tape Throwing Molotov Cocktail Into Bodega After Being Denied Store Credit

Shocking Video Captures Man Throwing Molotov Cocktail Into Deli

Police are searching for a man who tossed a Molotov cocktail into a Brooklyn bodega after being denied store credit by an employee.

The suspect was caught on surveillance camera leaving 24 Hour Minimart on Fort Hamilton Parkway after the argument Wednesday, reports the New York Daily News. But after an hour, police say the man returned wearing a hooded sweatshirt and sunglasses.

He then ignited a bottle and threw it into the store, setting the employee's hair and jacket on fire, according to DNAinfo.

"I just thank God I am okay. I am very lucky I survived," Asif Butt told The Daily News.

Authorities told NBC New York Butt suffered minor injuries; little damage was done to the Sunset Park store. But Butt told the Daily News he is "nervous" about being back at work so soon after the attack, as the suspect remains at large.

"This is my job, I have to come back," he said Thursday. "(I) can't believe that this would happen here ... I come here to America, I happy, I don't think this would happen same like (in) Pakistan."

The suspect is being described as a man in his thirties and between 5-feet-8 and 5-feet-10 inches tall. Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
