Caden Drake, 5, Uses OnStar To Call For Help When Mom Blacks Out

5-Year-Old Boy Saves The Day

It seems like something straight out of an OnStar commercial: A woman faints behind the wheel of her SUV with two kids in the back. One of them presses a button, and help is on the way.

But that's exactly what happened in Riverside, Calif., earlier this month when Ashley Drake blacked out because of her medication, according to CBS Los Angeles.

Before she lost consciousness, Drake managed to pull over to the side of the road. And that's when 5-year-old Caden Drake reached out, pressed the OnStar button and called for assistance.

“What’s mommy doing?” the OnStar operator asked.

“She’s crying, and she has her eyes closed,” Caden said.

The OnStar operator used the vehicle's tracking system to send police to the scene. Mom seems to be okay, and the kids even got goodie bags from the cops.

CBS Los Angeles has the exclusive story on the child's heroic efforts as well as the audio of the the call, which you can hear in the video above.
