Barbara Walters Speaks Out About Donald Sterling Canceling Interview

Posted: Updated:

Barbara Walters opened up on Monday's "View" about how disgraced LA Clippers owner Donald Sterling pulled out of a planned interview with her last week.

Walters traveled to California last week for an interview in the wake of Sterling's leaked racist comments, which he made to his personal assistant V. Stiviano. She was able to speak to Stiviano in a sitdown interview that aired Friday. On Monday, Walters said she was supposed to speak with Sterling as well, but he ultimately decided not to give an interview.

When asked what Stiviano's motives were for taping Sterling, Walters said she wasn't sure, and gave more details about what she witnessed behind-the-scenes.

"I think the relationship was unsteady even while we were there. He was going to do an interview, then he didn't, then he did. He went from caring about her to calling her names," she recalled. "He would do the interview; he wouldn't do the interview. So it's very erratic. It's hard to pin down."
