"Saturday Night Live" writer Leslie Jones received major criticism for her recent contribution to last week's episode.
During the "Weekend Update" sketch, Jones' character explained why she would have been the most "useful" of slaves back in the day, prompting backlash on Twitter. She later issued a series of responses, defending herself.

Responses to Jones' joke have been mixed. Many called the sketch "racist" and "distasteful," while others came out in support of the comedic effort -- even Don Lemon came to the aid of Jones and said "Leslie Jones, ignore the haters."
