Where Are The 'Hey Dude' Cast Members Now?

Watch The 'Hey Dude' Cast Reunite On HuffPost Live

It's been 25 years since Nickelodeon first introduced its viewers to the Bar None Dude Ranch with the 1989 premiere of the western-themed comedy "Hey Dude." To celebrate, HuffPost Live gathered the cast together for their first-ever reunion to catch up on what the ranchers have been up to after all these years.

"Hey Dude" aired for six seasons on Nickelodeon between 1989 and 1991. The show's best moments stuck around on the network in reruns for most of the '90s, and the series found a new home on TeenNick in 2011. With "Dude" also available on iTunes and Amazon Prime, the show is still fresh in the minds of many nostalgic viewers, but some of the cast members hadn't seen one another since the show's heyday.

That changed on May 7, when David Lascher (Ted McGriff), Kelly Brown (Brad Taylor), Josh Tygiel (Buddy Ernst), Jonathan Galkin (Jake Decker) and Debi Kalman (Lucy) reunited on HuffPost Live. Lucky for fans, the actors will come together to celebrate the 25th anniversary one more time at the ATX Festival in June.

So what have they been up to since leaving Bar None? Lascher is still working in entertainment; he recently directed the film "Sister," which screened at the 2014 Tribeca Film Festival. Jonathan Galkin went on to co-found the record label DFA Records with LCD Soundsystem's James Murphy. Check out the video above to hear from all the cast about what's keeping them busy these days.

HOW DOES THE CAST REVIEW THE SHOW TODAY?

"Hey Dude" came from a different time in television. As Nickelodeon's second-ever live action series, it long preceded the whirlwind of teen stardom that would shower the casts of "Big Time Rush" and Disney's "Hannah Montana" and has a completely different tone than the kids' shows of today.

Looking back, the cast told HuffPost Live's Ricky Camilleri that they have differing views of the series -- as do their children. While Kelly Brown's kids love to watch, Galkin said his own family wasn't as enthusiastic.

"They're just too raised now on television that has quicker editing and way more precocious dialogue," he said. "But my youngset, who just turned 5, thinks I'm a rock star for being on it, so that's good enough for me."

AN ON-SET 'CUSS JAR'

Before there was Ross and Rachel, there was Brad and Ted. Played by Brown and Lascher, the couple became Bar None's version of a will-they-or-won't they romance. The pair did share a smooch, but that's as far as it went on the series that was wholesome by design.

Brown revealed that the characters on the show couldn't even use the word "God," and their conduct was carefully monitored even outside of scripted scenes.

"We had a cuss jar on the set. We weren't allowed to cuss on the set, even off film," she said. "So Nickelodeon was strict with us, and now when I see what my kids are watching, I blush sometimes."

THE 'VERY, VERY SAD' DECAY OF THE 'HEY DUDE' SET

Last month, a video that went viral online revealed the "Hey Dude" set is still standing in Arizona -- but just barely. The ranch's buildings are now abandoned and dilapidated. The cast's reaction to the video? They were "terrified," Galkin said.

"It's very, very sad," said Debi Kalman. "It was beautifully kept up while we were there. It was our second home. We were on set so often and we took a lot of pride in it."
