All The Random Cameos In 'Party Monster,' The Michael Alig Movie | Killer Films
Michael Alig, dubbed the "Club Kid Killer," was a New York nightlife promoter in the early '90s and founder of the Club Kids. In 1997, Alig pleaded guilty to killing his roommate Angel Melendez, cutting up his body, and throwing it in the Hudson River. After serving 17 years in prison for manslaughter, he was released on parole on Monday, May 5.
Even while Alig was locked away, his infamous story was told in various films and television shows. He was the subject of the 1998 documentary "Party Monster: The Shockumentary," he was interviewed for the 2011 doc "Limelight," and he was portrayed by Macaulay Culkin in 2003's "Party Monster," based on James St. James' memoir "Disco Bloodbath." The fictionalized film became a cult favorite for its low-budget campy charm and also featured a handful of cameos by well-known actors, many before their careers took off. We've rounded up all the better-known stars and celebrities who appeared in the film. (Screenshots via Netflix, where you can watch "Party Monster" via Instant Watch.)
Macaulay Culkin -- Michael Alig
"Party Monster" was Macaulay Culkin's first film in nine years following 1994's "Richie Rich." After all his playful roles as a child star, it was a major switch to see Culkin as not only controversial nightlife partier, a drug addict and a murderer, but one who was based on a real person. If you watch the doc based on the story, you'll appreciate Culkin's performance ever more.
Seth Green -- James St. James
Seth Green is one of the best parts of the film, playing James St. James, the former Club Kid who introduced Alig to the nightlife scene. This photo is just one of Green's crazy party outfits from the film, which were close replicas of the ones St. James wore in real life (according to the "Shockumentary.")
Chloe Sevigny -- Gitsie
It's no surprise that Chloe Sevigny was in the low budget cult film that "Party Monster" is. She's practically the poster girl for the weird, quirky, indie type. Sevigny was also an unofficial Club Kid in real life, so she fit the part perfectly.
Marilyn Manson -- Christina Superstar
Yes, Marilyn Manson played a drag queen in "Party Monster" and it's amazing. In one scene his Christina Superstar, based on the real drag performer of the same name, drops acid before driving a semi-truck full of Club Kids to a party -- while wearing stilettos.
Dylan McDermott -- Peter Gaiten
Dylan McDermott portrayed the eye patch-wearing real-life NYC night club owner Peter Gatien. He owned The Limelight and Palladium and helped Alig get started as a party promoter.
Wilmer Valderrama -- Keoki
In the film, Wilmer Valderrama portrayed Keoki, who dated Alig for a period in real life before becoming a successful DJ in the '90s and early 2000s. By the time he appeared in the film, Valderrama was already well known as Fez on "That '70s Show."
Mia Kirshner -- Natasha
Best known as Jenny Schecter from Showtime's "The L Word" and Mandy on "24," Mia Kirshner played Peter Gaiten's assistant Natasha.
Natasha Lyonne -- Brooke
"Orange Is the New Black" star Natasha Lyonne had a small part in "Party Monster" portraying Brooke Humphries, a real life drug dealer and friend of Alig's at the time.
