Dick Cheney Joins Sarah Palin, Paul Ryan In Backing Pete Ricketts For Nebraska Governor

Former Vice President Dick Cheney endorsed Republican Pete Ricketts in the Nebraska governor's race, according to the Lincoln Journal Star.

Ricketts, former chief operating officer of Ameritrade, is battling five others for the GOP nomination for governor.

"I want to express my strong support for Pete," Cheney told the Journal Star. "Nebraska runs deep in our family, and I have an interest in this state."

"I know Pete Ricketts well," Cheney continued. "I supported him in his Senate race in 2006. I have served with him on the board of trustees of the American Enterprise Institute. He is a good man."

Two former vice presidential nominees have also endorsed Rickett: Wisconsin Rep. Paul Ryan and former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin.

This is the second endorsement Cheney has given in just one week. On May 7, Cheney threw his support behind Republican attorney Adam Laxalt as he campaigns to be Nevada's attorney general.
