Anti-Thom Tillis Ad Takes Place At Tillis Victory Party

A Democratic super PAC trying to hold the party's majority in the upper chamber this election cycle appears to have shot its latest ad for North Carolina's Senate race inside the Republican nominee's primary victory party.

Senate Majority PAC's new ad, "Undercover," features a tracker whispering about North Carolina House Speaker Thom Tillis, as he celebrates his win in Tuesday's primary. He'll face Sen. Kay Hagan (D) in November.

"I'm here watching Thom Tillis win his party's nomination to run for U.S. Senate," a woman says as Tillis speaks behind her. "Thom Tillis says he's up there for you, but he'll cost North Carolina families big time."

The ad cuts away from the party to hit Tillis for giving "tax cuts to the wealthy and big corporations," and it says "he raised taxes on 80 percent of North Carolinians."

The super PAC's latest buy is for $650,000, according to The Hill. The group had previously put $1 million behind an ad in April that highlighted payments Tillis gave to two of his former staffers who resigned after admitting they had affairs with lobbyists.

The group has spent millions of dollars in battleground states such as North Carolina as it works to defend vulnerable Senate incumbents.
