HRC's Project One America Campaign Aims For LGBT Equality In The South (VIDEO)

The Human Rights Campaign (HRC) is shining a spotlight on the lives of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) Southerners with a powerful new video.

The Project One America clip captures testimonies of LGBT people in Mississippi, Alabama and Arkansas. Collectively, the stories "paint a picture of what life is like when our friends and neighbors have no protections from discrimination," according to Project One America Director Brad Clark.

“People love their Southern roots, their families and they don’t want to leave their homes. So they are choosing to boldly speak out to effect change,” Clark said of the video, which was produced by Putnam Partners. “The interviews in this video are a courageous testament to the strength of LGBT people in the South.”

Of course, the video is just one component of HRC's Project One America campaign, which aims to advance equality throughout the aforementioned states.

As part of the campaign, HRC President Chad Griffin will appear at community gatherings throughout the three states, where he will be joined by local officials, business leaders and other LGBT rights advocates.
