Seeking lives of well-being and balance, women around the world are honing in on what it means to be truly successful. Even those who have achieved success in the traditional sense -- having acquired money and power -- feel that there might be another piece to the puzzle.
A number of extraordinary female leaders are on a mission to redefine success, and they'll be speaking on the topic at the third annual S.H.E. Summit hosted by Claudia Chan and the 92nd Street Y in New York City on June 5. The two-day conference will include more than 60 speakers discussing the powerful female potential and how women can empower the world around them. One of the speakers, Lauren Maillian Bias, stopped by HuffPost Live today to discuss how she personally redefined success with host Caroline Modarressy-Tehrani.
Maillian Bias is a former model, CEO of LMB Group and author of The Path Redefined, but none of these impressive titles are how she defines success. Instead, Maillian Bias says that motherhood helped her to see what matters most in life.
"It puts whole other spin on what purpose should be in your life when you also have other lives that you're responsible for," said Bias. "The way that I really think about what most people like to call work-life balance is really work-life integration. And essentially, I have at least brainwashed myself with the help of my wonderful two children to feeling as though my definition of success is by creating legacy of success, something that I can pass down not just to my own children but also to those that I mentor and that I advise and that I'm invested in to hopefully see this movement spur. And I know that for my kids, when I ask them who their role model is, it's Mommy, and that's good enough for me."
