CineFix has morphed a number of our favorite films into 8-bit shorts -- "The Hobbit," "The Big Lebowski" and "Elf" to name a few -- and their latest old school video game-formatted retelling is "Forrest Gump."

The Best Picture winner may be the extravagant tale of a man who embarked on a life of adventure built for the big screen, but its 8-bit -- and some 16-bit -- counterpart has a certain simplicity that just fits like one of them round pegs. The video's two-and-a-half minutes of ping-pong, shrimping and -- of course -- running will make you want to pop on Robert Zemeckis' film the moment you get home. Watch it above.
