It looks like "The Voice" has another coach chair to fill.
After CeeLo Green announced his departure from the show and Christina Aguilera dubbed Gwen Stefani her replacement for next season, yet another coach is stepping away from the televised singing competition. Shakira, who had previously alternated seasons with Aguilera, said she won't be returning to the show anytime soon.
"This was always a temporary thing for me to do," the singer told reporters this week. "For now, no, I don't have any plans of coming back."
The Colombian coach's busy schedule is to blame for her early exit. After recently having a baby and dropping her 10th studio album in March, the artist admitted she just didn't have time to continue her role in the competition.
"Honestly, I've had a blast," Shakira said. "But right now, I have to go on with my life as an artist. I'm not really a TV celebrity and I have to prep a tour and also do other stuff, like being a mother."
While we'll all miss her fiery personality and hilarious back-and-forths with Usher, Adam Levine and Blake Shelton, Shakira didn't completely rule out returning to the show at some point in the future. Asked if she'd ever sit in the big red chair again, Shakira said, "You never know."
"The Voice" airs Mondays and Tuesdays at 8 p.m. EDT on NBC.
