New York City Pride 2014 has released this year's Pride guide and it pays homage to an important historical legacy for the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community.
This year's guide includes a 37-page feature titled "The Next Generation of Stonewall" that aims to highlight LGBT New Yorkers who are making a significant impact and working towards progress for queer people in the modern age. Among those included in this feature are trans activist and actress Laverne Cox, drag legend Bianca Del Rio, internationally renowned fashion designer Thakoon Panichgul and iconic transgender model Carmen Carrera.
“2014 is the 45th anniversary of Stonewall, providing a unique opportunity to take a look at our community and our movement, and in particular those individuals who came of age after the riots,” Chris Frederick, Editor-in-Chief of the feature, said in a statement. “The feature is a serious labor of love; it’s our way of introducing the community to a group of people, all born into a world transformed by the uprising, who are leaving their mark on the city, the movement, and the world.”
