Want To Make Meetings More Productive? Start Walking

05/18/2014 07:00 am ET

Arianna Huffington does it. Mark Zuckerberg does it. Even President Obama does it.

They all stand up, get out of their offices and walk.

Walking meetings have been linked to increased productivity and boosts in morale, and have been credited as the catalyst for some major business deals. Remember: Zuckerberg and WhatsApp co-founder Jan Koum hiked around Silicon Valley together before agreeing on their $19 billion deal this year.

In her new book Thrive: The Third Metric to Redefining Success and Creating a Life of Well-Being, Wisdom, and Wonder, Huffington explains how walking al fresco has helped her navigate life's many challenges, from launching sections of The Huffington Post to giving birth to her first child.

Still not convinced to get up and start walking? Listen to Huffington's take:

Podcast produced by Amber Genuske and Rebecca Adams.
