You don't need weed to contemplate the cosmos--just a good guide. But what would "Cosmos: A Spacetime Odyssey" be like if the series' beloved host, Neil deGrasse Tyson, got high before leading viewers out to the nearest galaxy?
It would be extremely funny, that's what. Just have a look at "Cosmos on Weed," a hilarious spoof of the popular series posted on YouTube by "NachoPunch."
"Hi, I am Neil deGrasse Tyson, and I am here to tell you how f***ing rad space is,"
a faux Tyson says as he breaks out his lighter and takes a huge, hunch-shouldered hit off a big bong. "To make this journey we will need to use our imagination, our mind's eye, and this 'J' I just rolled."
The Tyson impression is spot-on. So are the graphics and the trippy music. In short, it's good stuff--especially when faux Tyson turns from stardust to pizza and the narration veers absurdly off-course.
"I think that's basil," he marvels.
What does the real Tyson make of the spoof? As you might imagine, his assessment is pretty blunt.
"When science serves as a muse for artists and comedians," Tyson told The Huffington Post in an email, "you know it's trending in our culture."
Blunt, but upbeat!
