But while her former 13 million followers are left wondering what to scrutinize or scroll through anymore, Tom Ford is just now realizing how powerful Rihanna's former feed was. Ford, who only recently seemed to realize how the forces of social media work and can be used for good, told Style.com's Tim Blanks:
Something new is happening that I'm just clueing into now—this probably won't go down well—but customers don't care any more about reviews or hard-copy publications. They care what picture Rihanna just Instagrammed while she's naked in bed, what new shoes she has on, how she's talking about them. That's what they respond to.
The renowned designer, famous for his stunner shades and social media ban at shows, is essentially saying that the pictures the pop princess used to post are more powerful than any literary fashion review out there.
We don't mean to give Anna Wintour a scare, but what Ford is saying is definitely true. Beyoncé may wake up "***Flawless," but the rest of the world was waking up to see what Rihanna was (or wasn't) wearing.
