Brooke Shields' 1980 Vogue Cover Is Proof That She's A Style Icon

Was This Brooke Shields' Biggest Break To Date?

Brooke Shields is beautiful. There is no doubt about that.

We're always obsessing over her thick, brunette hair, long lashes (thanks to Latisse!) and her sophisticated red carpet looks. Even though she is widely recognized for her controversial Calvin Klein Jeans ad, we remember when Shields first stirred up strong opinions as Vogue's youngest cover star.

The glamorous head shot featured on the fashion glossy's February 1980 issue shows the then child model-actor wearing big hair, bushy brows and enough makeup to double as a pageant contestant.

While it might have been a bit too much for a 14-year-old back then, this pales in comparison to the looks young models are sporting today. (Besides, they're showing off wayyy more skin.) Nevertheless, Shields scoring a Vogue cover at such a young age was quite groundbreaking for her career, and it is proof that she is a style icon.
