California is one of eight states holding primary elections on Tuesday, June 3.
The state will put its new top-two primary system to the test for the first time for its gubernatorial race on Tuesday. Under this electoral system, the top two vote-getters in the primary advance to the November ballot, regardless of party affiliation, HuffPost's Amanda Terkel and Samantha Lachman report.
There are also several major House races worth watching in the Golden State, including a fierce battle between incumbent Rep. Mike Honda (D-Calif.) and attorney and former Obama administration official Ro Khanna.
