Soldier Father Gives His Fifth Grader The Ultimate Graduation Gift

Elementary school graduations don't usually come with much fanfare. But one fifth grader's dad turned the occasion into an unforgettable moment for his daughter.

Grace Reyes of Elizabethtown, Kentucky hadn't seen her father, U.S. Army Major Julian Reyes, in almost a year. She was in for a big treat when he came home from his post in Korea to make a surprise appearance at her graduation. It was an emotional reunion, as Grace jumped into her father's arms and burst into tears.

This graduation season has been full of similar surprises. One Army Reserve captain took a leave from his unit in Afghanistan to attend his daughter's graduation from Columbia University. Another military dad surprised his son during his high school commencement speech.

This is certainly a trend we could get behind.
