Do you feel stressed when you walk into work? There are a number of ways to make a stressful environment calmer and more manageable, and luckily, Jessica Ortner, author of The Tapping Solution for Weight Loss and Body Confidence, was here to explain exactly how.

To “tap,” you gently press nine acupressure points on the body—beginning with the side of the hand, then moving to the eyebrow, side of the eye, under the eye, under the nose, the chin, collarbone, under the armpit and ending with the top of the head—as you repeat a "setup statement" which vocalizes your emotional and physical stress. See this video for a demonstration.

“It’s really great to figure out what your triggers are. Focus on where the stress originates, then give a voice to that physical tension in your body and target with ‘tapping’,” Jessica told us.

“When we’re stressed, we tend to hold it in our body, commonly in our neck, shoulders or back. Notice if you have any stiffness in your body.”

If you carry stress in your body, Jessica recommends locating precisely where the tension originates, then rate it on a scale of intensity from 1-10. Then, target that specific physical tension with the "setup statement" and begin several rounds of “tapping.”
