A Brief History Of Venus Williams' Braided Hairstyles

When most people hear the name "Venus Williams," the first things that come to mind are her cheeky tennis outfits and intense matches against her sister, Serena. However, the beauty editor in me can't help but picture Venus, the hair goddess.

Since turning pro at the age of 14, Williams has dominated the tennis court with her braided hairstyles. I fondly remember the rainbow-colored beads that adorned her tiny cornrows, then regretting copying the look when I woke up with a migraine.

Even though she gave her hair a much-needed break from braids throughout the early 2000s (they can do quite a number on your hairline), Williams made a beautiful return to her signature 'do a few years ago when she debuted braided extensions in vibrant shades, including turquoise and fuchsia.

With Williams turning 34 today (June 17), it only seems right to take a look back at some of her best braided hairstyles. Besides, it is the unofficial look for summer.
