It took more goals than any African nation has ever scored in a single game at the World Cup to earn Algeria a long-awaited win.

The Fennec Foxes put on an offensive display in a wild 4-2 win over South Korea in Group H match at Estadio Beira-Rio in Porto Alegre on Sunday. The triumph was the first Algeria at the World Cup since 1982. Algeria grabbed control of the match in the first half by scoring three goals in a 15-minute stretch.

After being overrun in the first half, South Korea pulled back a goal early in the second half through Son Heung-Min.

South Korea later added another goal but so did Algeria to hold on for the 4-2 win. Fans back in Algiers were understandably excited about the result.

The win keeps Algeria in contention to advance out of the group stage entering its June 26 match against Russia.
