If Adam Levine Wasn't Confident About Proposing, God Help The Rest Of Us

Get this: reigning "Sexiest Man Alive" Adam Levine (a guy who surely isn't lacking in self-esteem) said he wasn't feeling particularly confident when he popped the question to model Behati Prinsloo last year.

The Maroon 5 frontman and "Voice" judge stopped by "Live! With Kelly & Michael" on Monday to talk about what was going through his mind during the proposal.

“It doesn’t matter how certain you think you are,” he told host Michael Strahan and guest host Beth Behrs. “You still get down on that knee, and you get woozy, and you’re like, ‘I’m doing this, oh my god.’ You can’t be confident about it. I’m a confident person, but I got on that knee and everything changed immediately. I lost my equilibrium. I had to get on the other one.”

Levine also admitted that he wasn't feeling particularly suave when he finally mustered up the courage to ask.

“I had nothing,” he said. “I usually have some charming thing to say. I remember one thing about it. I did say at one point, ‘Both knees! Look, I got on both knees!’ And it didn’t sound charming at all.”

Last week on Ryan Seacrest's radio show, Levine said that he went the gentlemanly route and asked Prinsloo's dad for his blessing before proposing.

"I did ask his permission," he said. "I don’t want to talk about it, you know how I am, but yes, of course I did. I had to. And it was extremely nerve-wracking."
