The debate rages on. Since the dawn of American football, which was peculiarly named like the rest of the world's soccer (fútbol), people have argued about the distinctions of the two sports.
As The Whistle points out, American football's name doesn't really make sense when you consider how infrequently feet are actually used (besides running). But some American sports fans will argue that names are irrelevant: soccer's excitement pales in comparison to football.
