Is it an average suburban colonial or an interconnected home of the future? Between the coffee pot that begins to brew when a family member rises, the cabinets that announce the daily forecast and the ambient awareness lights that change color when the mail arrives, it's probably a safe bet to go with the latter.
It contains over 150 connected devices -- everything from door locks to disco balls -- and was transformed into the country's smartest house by SmartThings founder and CEO Alex Hawkinson. It took him just about two years and, as he reveals in the video above, in the course of that time, his home has become more than just a tech-forward dwelling -- it's become almost "a member of the family," he says.
