Posted: Updated:

Although there wasn't a new episode of "Last Week Tonight" this Sunday, John Oliver paid tribute to the Fourth of July (or, "The day of colonial aggression") with a video about pretty much every fireworks display you've ever seen.

Watch the web exclusive above to hear Oliver's theory on why America can't quit fireworks, or, as we will now be calling them, "sparkly guns you can shoot at the sky."
